Executive MBA entrance exam
Executive MBA, a one year full time or a three year part time programme is offered by many institutes in the country. More and more students now prefer to do an executive MBA after accumulating relevant work experience. To get admission into an executive MBA programme, a candidate has to go through rigorous admission procedures. This includes an entrance exam, and/or a group discussion and/or a personal interview and/or an essay. Different institutes have different combinations of the above four components of an admission process. CV’s are also taken into consideration during personal interview.
Some of the institutes in India prefer to take students on the basis of their GMAT scores. This includes Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad, Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad, IIM Indore (accepts CAT scores or GMAT scores), IIM B, IIM C, etc.
The GMAT examination consists of three sections namely; analytical writing Assessment (AWA), the verbal section and the quantitative section. The scores in GMAT range from 200 to 800. The advantage in taking the GMAT is that the exam is administered all year round
XLRI, Jamshedpur conducts its entrance exam called XAT for executive MBA programme as well as fulltime two year MBA programme. Candidates selected in the entrance test have to go through a personal interview as well.
On the other hand, some other institutes prefer to conduct their private entrance exams. These includes institutes like Symbiosis Institute of Management, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) University of Delhi, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management studies (JBIMS), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade – IIFT, MET (Mumbai educational Trust), ITM (Institute for Technology and Management), S. P. Jain, Mumbai etc.
Those institutes that conduct these private entrance exams also have a specimen entrance test paper which students can refer to and get an idea about the kind of questions to be expected in the test.
