SOP, an abbreviated form of the term ‘Statement of Purpose’ is much needed by institutes before allotting you a seat in their institute for an executive programme. Statement of Purpose is the reason given by you as why you are applying for a certain programme. It more or less talks about your aspirations and the goals you want to achieve after completing an executive programme. Simple for anyone to understand that difference between SOPs for general MBA and SOPs for Executive MBA do arises.
As soon as you enter classroom of an executive MBA, expectations of people around you rises. They expect you to get into managerial positions at senior level. As the expectations are high, interviewer looks for capabilities in you through your career profile till the date. They consider you as an individual who has done brilliantly or at least that much which could help you to take senior positions at an organisation. Talking about SOPs for general MBA, they consider you as an individual who doesn’t hold any kind of experience and thus, evaluates you only on the academics along with few skills.
One might get answers to questions which are asked by interviewer in a general MBA application but it is almost impossible to look for possible questions of an executive MBA applications. Interviewer considers you an individual holding more than 5 years of managerial experience, thus tends to ask you questions out of the box. Though, institutes do ask you to show them your valid GMAT scores and academic records but the answers answered in an interview of an executive applications holds much worth. Before applying for an Executive MBA, do check your skills and the work done by you through your career as it holds much more importance than your academic records and work done at your college level.
